Chiang Dao Explorer - CMT2E
Our new program to the Chiang Dao area, for those short of time that want to do a harder trek..
Day 1 Start of our two day trek. Drive north of Chiang Mai towards Phrao for approx. 1 1/2hrs. Walk for 4-5 hrs in the afternoon until we reach a Palong village. The walk in the afternoon is a moderate/hard hike, with some steep uphill stretches. We spend the night in the Palong village. (L,D) Accommodation in a hilltribe house.
Day 2 Ride the elephants out of the Palong village for approx. 1hr. Walk for about 30 mins and then meet our transport and drive to the start of the rafting trip. After lunch board the rafts for a 1hr trip down the Ping River. Drive back to Chiang Mai. (B,L)
Highlights = elephant riding, rafting, as well as hiking in the hills around Chiang Dao and meeting the Palong tribe. A good trek for anyone who is reasonably fit, and as it's a private trek you can stop as often as you need. As it's a longer hike you get to see a variety of scenery with good views.
