Hilltribe Variety Trek - CMT2G Our most popular 2 day trek to the area north of Chiang Mai. This is a fairly easy trek and the route can be altered to make it a very easy trek if travelling with children or older people not used to hiking. Day 1 Start of our two day trek. Drive north of Chiang Mai towards Chiang Dao for approx. 1 1/2hrs. First visit the Chiang Dao Caves and then have lunch. After exploring the caves drive half an hour further to an Akha village and start our trek. Walk for 3 hrs in the afternoon until we reach a Palong village. The walk in the afternoon is a moderate hike, with some being uphill. We spend the night in the Palong village. (L,D) Accommodation in a hilltribe house. Day 2 Ride
the elephants out of the Palong village for approx. 1hr. Walk for about 30
mins and then meet our transport and drive to the start of the rafting
trip. After lunch board the rafts for a 1hr trip down the Ping River.
Highlights = elephant riding, rafting & Chiang Dao Caves, as well as hiking in the hills around Chiang Dao and meeting the Palong tribe. A visit to the Padong "long neck" tribe is an also included. A good trek for anyone who is not fit, and as it's a private trek you can stop as often as you need.
